FEATURED IN:

I take my health very seriously. I know when I invest the time and energy into feeling good, life just flows more freely. When I get a bit lazy and blow off things I know I should be doing I feel flat, tired and grumpy. It’s all too easy to blame being busy on why we don’t look after ourselves. I too used to tell myself ‘when life slows down a bit I’ll do that’, or ‘when I get that new job, go on annual leave, or find more motivation I’ll start focusing on my health more’. The truth is there’ll always be another excuse and something else to fill your time.
I am always finding new ways to hack my own health, things I can do on a daily/weekly that doesn’t take too much time, but packs a punch on overall wellness. And now I am sharing them with you. 5 ways to hack your wellness, so you too can feel healthy, fresh and vibrant at the drop of a hat.
We get it. There’s soo much pressure to eat better, exercise more and get into shape now we are approaching the warmer months. This is the time of year we see the terms ‘bikini body’, ‘detox teas’, ‘weight loss program’, ‘body transformation’, ‘eating plan’ blah blah blah.
You have all the best intentions in the world to become a better you this season. You are ready to give this thing a crack and start making healthier choices…. you want results yesterday so you start clutching at straws and find yourself drawn into these fads and promises to make you slimmer and more toned in no time flat. But does it actually work?
It happens every year around this time. The health and fitness industry goes even more nuts than normal.
I'm talking about those luring promises and sales pitches every where you look... 12 week body transformations, bikini body programs (what the heck is a bikini body anyway?), juice detoxes, lemon detox diets (yuck), overly confusing workout plans, strict nutrition programs, online weight loss guides, ridiculously cheap gym join up fees (watch out for those long contracts!), silly fitness equipment ads on TV... blah blah blah.
I'm in the industry and I can't stand it. Sure yeah you may get some results at the start if you follow their strict rules and guidelines, yeah you'll look great when you look in the mirror and see your quick results, and yes you will be encouraged to eat more healthy foods you wouldn't usually eat... but how long can you keep this up for? How long until you cave and eat an entire block of chocolate, a full bag of salt and vinegar chips and flush it down with a diet coke out of pure resentment? Trust me I have been there time and time again. All those challenges do is involve restriction, deprivation and exhaustion.

" Jack and I love coming to Fitbitch classes because we always have so much fun in the group and feel great during and after the workouts. No two classes are ever the same and Hayley is great at motivating the group, making us feel very comfortable, as well as being extremely helpful and encouraging if ever we are struggling with an exercise or just need that extra push to get us through. Do yourself a favour and give it a go!"
- JESS + JACK
"My dogs and I absolutely love our Fitbitch classes! I have 2 dogs and they take turns in coming along. I can't speak highly enough of our trainer Hayley - she's encouraging, motivational, non judgemental and always on hand if help is needed. There are so many benefits to Fitbitch that I never even thought of: new friends, my dogs love meeting the other pups, getting out and about whatever the weather and of course seeing results on mine and my dogs fitness! A super fun way to get fit"

They say a picture can tell a thousand words... well I'll just leave this here with Ava's photo. If that doesn't scream drooling pleasure I don't know what does!
I don'k make dog treats very often because of their very nature, treats. Treats should really only be given to your dog on the occasion and you have to be very careful with what ingredients you use as some won't agree with their tummies. Ava is on a high-quality dry food only diet and gets the occasional frozen bone for her teeth. So its safe to say she gets very excited when I bake her something yummy (a little while ago I shared a liver treat recipe and she want nuts for it! If you haven't made that yet its a must!).
Who doesn't like a slice of a delicious warm banana bread to start their day?!
This recipe is by far my most sought after recipe since first publishing it years ago on another blog I used to run, and people still tell me its one of their go-to breakfasts. And the best bit, its super simple and easy to make!
I make up a loaf at the start of the week, slice it up and warm a slice for breakfast and serve it with a creamy yogurt and berries... mmmm. I also freeze individual slices in the freezer for an easy breakfast, that way you don’t have to eat it all up before it goes stale.
So get those bananas ripening, you'll need only a couple and a few other basic ingredients and you're on your way to banana bread heaven.
Nice buns! That's what you'll be telling your plate when you whip up these SUPER SIMPLE almond meal burger buns... these bad (good) boys are my new obsession! (seriously, I just had them for lunch for the 3rd time this week).
If you don't have a slow cooker. STOP reading this and run out and get one! Seriously, they are next to nothing at Kmart, Target, Big W etc... and they need to be a staple in your Kitchen right now. As winter approaches they are about to become your best friend.
